LSUE Tabs Virginia Shiver to Head Workforce Innovation and Continuing Education

EUNICE, La. – Louisiana State University Eunice has hired Virginia Coreil Shiver as the new Director of Workforce Innovations and Continuing Education, it was recently announced. The office of Workforce Innovation and Continuing Education helps traditional and adult learners reskill and upskill through non-credit coursework and community service programs.
“We are incredibly excited to have Mrs. Shiver join our LSUE community as we believe she will be a tremendous asset,” LSU Eunice Chancellor Dr. Nancee Sorenson said. “Her community involvement and passion to help others make her tailor made for this role.”
Shiver has extensive experience in both educational and private sectors. A lawyer for nearly 17 years, she served as an Assistant Louisiana Attorney General and in private practice. Recently, Shiver transitioned to education, having taught at both Bayou Chicot Elementary and Ville Platte High School. Her areas of expertise included English, Technical Writing, Speech, Psychology and ACT Prep.

A Ville Platte native, Shiver attended LSU Eunice for two years before receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from LSU in 1998. She would go on to the LSU Law School where Shiver received her Juris Doctorate in 2001.
