Criminal Justice
The Associate of Science in Criminal Justice program is designed for high school graduates and adult learners interested preparing for a career in the criminal justice system, as well as professional practitioners seeking to upgrade their criminal justice knowledge and certifications. It presents historical and current criminal justice practices through a social lens, offering students the opportunity to engage in critical thinking and problem-solving processes. An emphasis is placed on three major components of the criminal justice system: police, courts, and corrections, while critically analyzing technical research in these areas. Additionally, students will learn how diversity, equity, and inclusion play a role in the criminal justice system.
This two-year social science curriculum is based on contemporary practices in the expansive criminal justice field using the latest educational strategies for both online and in-person learning platforms. The Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice requires interdisciplinary courses that are transferable to Baccalaureate programs at four-year educational institutions throughout the United States. All LSU Eunice criminal justice courses are taught by nationally recognized leaders in the field.
