Post 9/11, G.I. Bill An educational benefits program for students who served on active duty for at least 90 days on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals who were discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days of service. First time applicants: must complete VA Form 22-1990 (Application for VA Education Benefits). To expedite the process it is recommended that this application is filled out online at https://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp Veterans must also provide a copy of the "Member-4" page of the DD Form 214 (Certificate or Release or Discharge from Active Duty). Active Duty personnel must have an Education Services Officer from their unit complete Part II of the VA Form 22-1990. After the application is processed by the VA, students will receive a letter stating their "Explanation of Benefits". This letter will tell the student the amount of VA Educational Benefits they are eligible for. All students must also bring or send a copy of their "Explanation of Benefits" to the VA Office in Room 112, Acadian Center. Transfer students, or LSU Eunice students who have changed their degree plan after already receiving benefits under chapter 33, must complete the VA form 22-1995 (Request for Change of Program or Place of Training). Click here for a list of approved programs at LSU Eunice. All VA students must also bring or send a copy of their current schedule to the VA Office in Room 112 in the Acadian Center. This must be done each semester, as soon as they schedule classes. The VA office at LSU Eunice cannot certify students to receive payments from the VA until a current schedule is received. |
