Respiratory Care Class Receives Pins

The 2010 graduating class in Respiratory Care received their pins in ceremonies held this week at LSU Eunice. Eleven graduates were honored at the annual pinning ceremony after spending four semesters in the top-ranked program in Louisiana.

Graduating from the programs was Ali Broussard of Duson, Amanda Deville of Lafayette, Leslie Freeman of Opelousas, Lacey Lafleur of Eunice, Logan Lannoo of New Iberia, Jillian Lopez of Basile, Thomas Mayeaux of Mansura, Justin Pursnell of Baton Rouge, James Thierry of Lawtell, Andrea Vidos of Lafayette, and Amy Wood of Alexandria.

Ray Debarbieris, a certified respiratory therapist, spoke to the class providing advice about their futures and joking with the class about their year spent in clinical studies.

"Your student life has ended, but your learning life is just beginning," said Debarbieris to the class.

Honored during the ceremony was class president, Amanda Deville, who earned the program's two top awards. Deville received the Outstanding Student Award which is given to the student with the highest grade point average in the class and the Distinguished Student Award which is selected by class members and honors the student who is a role model for others in the program.
