Hall of Fame Banquet set for Friday

LSU Eunice Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Steven Guempel will became the second member of the LSU Eunice Bengal Hall of Fame Friday at the University’s third Hall of Fame Banquet.  Guempel will be honored for his leadership in laying the ground work to form athletic programs at the university in mid 1990s.

Guempel will follow in the footsteps of Curtis Joubert who was the first member inducted into the Hall of Fame last year.

Tickets for the event are still available.  Tickets are $50 per person and include entrance to the event that features entertainment by Grammy Nominated Pine Leaf Boys, a meal and keynote speaker Dr. John Lombardi, president of the LSU System, who will speak about the history of athletics in colleges.

The LSU Eunice Bengal Hall of Fame was established in 2009 to honor outstanding athletes, teams, coaches, and supporters for their athletic performance, leadership, and team contributions. In the fall of 1999, men’s baseball and women’s basketball began competition with softball being added in the fall of 2005.

The LSU Eunice coaching staffs will introduce their teams and talk about their seasons.
