Spring 2012 Performing Arts Series Announced
Jazz and Blues music will headline the Spring 2012 LSU Eunice Performing Arts Series. The Series will bring to the campus Shreveport jazz artist Jackie Greggs, and National Blues Hall of Fame member Doug Duffey.
Greggs, along with her jazz ensemble, will appear on the stage of the Health Technology Building on the LSU Eunice campus February 6. The performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. Greggs loves to perform duos with her vocals with the melodic strings of an acoustic guitar, or upright bass. This elegant combination allows the beautiful timbre of her voice to melt into the lushness of each note that she releases. These musical duos are "ear candy" for the listener. Tickets for the event are $4 for general public and free to LSU Eunice students and children 12 years of age and under.
Duffey will perform at LSU Eunice March 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Health Technology Building auditorium. Tickets for the event are $4 for general public and free to LSU Eunice students and children 12 years of age and under. Duffey was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame and the National Blues Hall of Fame where he was named Louisiana Ambassador of the Blues. The Monroe, Louisiana native has written songs for and recorded with George Clinton, Funkadelic, Rare Earth, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Keith Richards, Herbie Hancock, David Byrne, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Anders Osborne, Little Queenie, Marcia Ball, Zakiya Hooker, Jerry Beach, and John Autin, to name a few. Onstage, he serves up a steaming hot & spicy gumbo of Louisiana soul, whether solo or with his International Soul Band.
The Spring 2012 Performing Arts Series is sponsored by the LSU Eunice Campus Activities Board.
