Lady Bengals Head to National Tournament
NORMAL, IL -- The Lady Bengal Softball team rolls into town for their second National Tournament appearance as the top-ranked team in Division II and the top-seeded team in the tournament which starts Thursday.
The three-day tournament features the top sixteen Division II Junior College teams from across the nation.
The Lady Bengals (51-10) will kickoff the tournament at 10 a.m. Thursday against 16th seed Cecil (33-12). Should they win, LSU Eunice will advance to play the winner of South Mountain (40-26) and Sauk Valley (34-10) Thursday at 4 p.m. A loss and the girls will fall into the losers' bracket and play at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
LSU Eunice could faceoff with East Central (34-13), who they beat twice two weeks ago to win the Region 23 Tournament. That faceoff would only occur if both teams advanced to the semi-finals.
The finals will be Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. if needed.

Regional Tournament Action
CLINTON, Miss -- The top-ranked LSU Eunice Lady Bengals beat East Central in two games Saturday to win the Region 23 Tournament and advance to the NJCAA Division II Softball National Championship.
This is the Lady Bengals first Regional Title and it will be their second trip to the national tournament.
The girls knocked off East Mississippi and Mississippi Gulf Coast on Thursday to advance to Friday's round of games. After falling to East Central Mississippi, the Lady Bengals rebounded to knock off Gulf Coast a second time in the tournament and qualify for the National Tournament. In Saturday's action, LSU Eunice had to beat East Central twice to win the Region Title. They did that with 1-0 and 3-1 victories.
The Division II National Championship is set for May 19 at Champions Fields in Normal, Illinois.
