2013 Respiratory Pinning
The 2013 graduating class in Respiratory Care received their pins in ceremonies held this week at LSU Eunice. Eleven graduates were honored at the annual pinning ceremony after spending four semesters in the top-ranked program in Louisiana.
Graduating from the programs was Elycia Abrusley of Alexandria, Michael Benoit of Church Point, Kristie Bordelon of Mamou, Markie Edler of New Iberia, Haley Gauthier of Marksville, Michael Klein of New Iberia, Amber Lantier of Duson, Katie Latiola of Iota, Asia Semien and Brittany Thibodeaux both of Eunice, and Chelsey Wise of Simpson.
Honored during the ceremony was Benoit, who earned the program's top awards. He received the Scholastic Achievement Award which is given to the student with the highest grade point average in the class, and he earned the Distinguished Student Award which is selected by class members and honors the student who is a role model for others in the program.
Haley Gauthier was recognized for her work over the summer in LSU Eunice's Undergraduate Summer Research Institute.
LSU Eunice alumnae and Registered Respiratory Therapist at University Medical Center in Lafayette, Heather Smith, addressed the students.
The university's Respiratory Care program is one of the top in the nation, consistently having a 100 percent pass rate on national board exams.
