Perfect Pass Rate on Boards

Louisiana State University Eunice's Respiratory Care most recent graduating class has achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the national Entry Level Certification Examination.

"The most recent class (December 2013) consisted of 11 graduates and all passed on their first attempt and found employment within one month of graduation," said Kathleen Warner, LSU Eunice's Respiratory Care program director. "The pass rate is an example of how well the students are trained and provides an indication of their skills and knowledge base."

With the 100 percent pass rate achieved by the 2013 class, LSU Eunice's program has a 99.1 percent pass rate over the last 10 years on first attempts. The national pass rate average is 59 percent.

"I would like to thank the LSU Eunice administration, faculty, and the surrounding hospital affiliates for assisting in this notable achievement," said Warner. "Just another example of how LSU Eunice proves such excellence in higher education."

Students graduating from the Respiratory Care program may become certified by taking the Entry Level Certification Examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

The state of Louisiana's licensing board only allows 4 attempts to pass this examination or the graduate will not be allowed to practice in this state.

LSU Eunice's Respiratory Care program prepares graduates to obtain jobs as respiratory therapists, who care for and assist patients that struggle with breathing difficulties. Classes focus on the areas of pulmonary and cardiac pharmacology, advanced critical care monitoring, mechanical ventilation, pulmonary function testing, neonatal pediatric respiratory care and more. LSU Eunice offers an associate degree in Respiratory Care.

LSU Eunice offers more than degrees, diploma and certificate options that can be completed in two years or less and numerous transfer programs that allow students to transfer to four-year institutions. For more information, visit
