“. . . we can positively impact our community by reducing the number of families in poverty through access to higher education.”
What is Future Finders and why is it important for Evangeline, Acadia, and St. Landry
Parishes?
This scholarship will provide an opportunity for average- achievement students to
further their education, despite not having adequate funding available to them. The
focus is on the students’ determination, good will, and desire to continue their education.
The scholarship award will help give the selected students an equal opportunity of
reaching their goals. It is no secret that having a college degree enables one to
earn more money in the workplace. Every successful student in this program will help
to reduce the number of families living in poverty in our Acadiana community of Evangeline,
Acadia, and St. Landry Parishes, thereby breaking its cycle of poverty.
Components of Future Finders
Future Finders awardees will each receive a grant of $1,000 for their first semester
at LSU Eunice. The second award of $1,000 will be granted for the second semester
at LSU Eunice provided that the student has achieved a grade point average (GPA) of
2.5 or higher their first semester.
If the student’s GPA is below a 2.5, he or she is not eligible to receive the second disbursement of $1,000. If a student should lose said funding, he or she is not eligible to receive future funding.
